Sushi Rolling with Yoko

Thursday, July 17, 2008

One of Mitch's English students invited us over to her house to roll our own sushi rolls. I was very excited as I had never done this before (Mitch did it once in cooking class)

Yoko had just about everything prepared prior to picking us up. She had many choices for us including ham, scrambled egg roll, lettuce, cucumbers, fish, tuna salad, and sashami (raw fish).

Then she brought over the sushi rice (boiled rich with vinegar
Then she cut the seaweed into the right size
Sara waiting patiently...
One of my finished products (white fish, cucumber, lettuce and mayonnaise)

RJ was an expert and putting many things and then rolling it
Here is a video of him using his chopsticks to load up his sushi roll.
After we finished eating, we went into the living room to enjoy some conversation. When it was time to go home we snapped a photo of Yoko, her husband and Mitch & the kids.

We had a great time!! Thanks Yoko!!
