YEA!!!
I just got word that I have a job back in Arizona!! I will return to Palo Verde Middle School in August! I will teach 7th grade math. I am so excited to be going back there!! Now we just have to find a house to live in...any suggestions?
Yea! a comment on my blog!! It was really werid being back at PV when I started in 2003. Back then a lot of the old timers were still around (Mr. Howell, Mr. Lutz, Mr. Metzger, Ms. Boniguidi, Ms. Earnster, Mr. Scantlin, Ms. Slamka). Now most of them are all gone. I think Scantlin is the only one left.
If you are wondering when the best time is to call us, let me explain.
We are usually awoken up by the kids around 7am which is 3pm the day before for those of you in Arizona. Mitch and Sara are usually around most of the early mornings on Mon & Fri (which translates to your Sun. & Thurs. afternoons). If you want to catch me, Sat. & Sun. mornings are best (which translates to Fri & Sat afternoons). If you happen to be up at 5am your time, that is 9pm for us and the kids are in bed, but we usually have the computer in the bedroom with us.
So remember it is free for you to call us at 602-748-4312, it is not free for us to call you.
The Cost of Living in Himeji, Japan
A bowl of Ramen with 4 thin slices of pork - 600 yen (~$6)
case of Pepsi - 998 yen (priceless)
24 strawberries - 500 yen (~$4.75)
Big Mac combo meal (medium size) - 620yen (~$5.90)
Japanese Smores - toasted marshmellow, chocolate and saltine crakers. The salt and sweet go well together
Sashimi - not as bad as I thought it was going to be
Tacoyaki - Octopus balls - Mitch tried this and hated it
Sweet bean paste - not my favorite
Persimmon - (Japanese fruit) very crunchy and yummy. A little sweet
Pickeled ginger - absolutely disgusting
Pickled radish - not to bad, very bitter
Squid Jerky - Sara tried this one and LOVES it
Sushi - (the cooked kind of sushi) very yummy
Milk vitamin - actually very yummy and healthy
Pickled Plum - not very tasty by my standards (very tart)
Visitors Schedule
Our final scheduled visitor has come and gone...now we are packing up to come home. My last day of school here is July 18th. We will leave Himeji late on Saturday, July 26 and return to Phoenix late on July 29th.
We are living in Himeji, Japan for one year while I teach English at Himeji High School. Mitch is trying out Mr. Mom, RJ and Sara are attending an International preschool and learning Japanese much quicker than we are.

Who's still there that you know? Mr Lutz? Kind of weird that both you and Richelle returned to your old haunts.
